Congratulations to Dr Emma Watts, our winner of the Zeiss Postdoctoral Keynote Award this year! Emma was nominated for her recent Nature paper on mantle upwelling at the Afar triple junction, outstanding student mentorship & peer support, as well as dedication to public engagement.

UK volcanology was well represented last week at UNDRR's 8th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva! This conference brings together the global community working on disaster risk reduction & is a crucial forum for assessing progress on the implementation of the Sendai Framework.

Following our announcement that Michael Heap has won this year's VMSG Award, today he was able to receive it in person and give his keynote lecture at #VMSG_MDSG25 in Dublin!

Michal was nominated for her recent paper examining surface deformation of La Soufriere during the '20-21 eruptions, & contributions to sci-comm & risk management within the UWI's SRC.
