Fresh off the plane in St. Louis and ready to dive into the #SC25 whirlwind this week! If you’re around and want to chat all things #HPC, visual magic, or just share a beer and a few good stories, let’s make it happen.

Feel free to ping me if you’re around. Looking forward to it!

Honored to be named a Vanguard of HPC + AI by insideHPC.

At Argonne’s ALCF, I get to explore how humans and machines collaborate—through XR, in-situ viz, and tools that bring data to life.

Dancing on the bleeding edge of science—and loving every step.

New week, new magic from OpenAI: GPT-4o can now create and edit images right inside ChatGPT.

And guess what? It finally gets text right—no more blurry fonts or accidental gibberish. Just describe what you imagine, and it brings it to life. 💫

I gave it a try—check out what I made below! 👇

I finally got to play a little bit with #sora. I asked it to create a 5 second video of the work that I do (scientific visualization on front of a big tiled display). Here is what it came up with

Playing around with @adobelive.bsky.social Project Neo. First image is the 3D model (took me ~5 minutes to model). Next two images are generated using GenAI. The entire process took me less than 10 minutes. Insane. #adobe #rendering #GenAI

I asked ChatGPT to make a photo of what it thinks my life looks like based on everything it knows about me. This is what I got, and damn, I was surprised! #chatgpt

One of my professional goals for 2024 is to improve the rendering realism and quality of the scientific visualizations that I make. I started experimenting with lights, which elevated the overall quality to the next level. Here are a few renders with Houdini and Karma. 3D model: polyhaven.com

The first tracked VR head-mounted display, the 'The Sword of Damocles' was developed in 1968 by Ivan Sutherland. It was rudimentary and tethered to the ceiling, but it paved the way for the immersive VR experiences we enjoy today. 📸 Sutherland 🧪

In 1900, W.E.B. Du Bois, a visionary in data visualization, presented a series of striking charts at the Paris Exposition, visually advocating for African-American progress. Du Bois’ work challenged stereotypes and provided a powerful counter-narrative to prevailing racist attitudes of the time. 🧪
