FDR's New Deal has been accepted to not really have ended the Depression. WWII did.
I don't know if the agencies, regulations, and laws that stemmed from it really will prevent another. The major lesson was to do something.

The US had loaned millions to the allies. The French and the UK had no way to pay. They demanded reparations from the Germans who also had no way to pay. (They made their final payment 10/3/2010)
