I know, this island is the absolute worst. I wouldn't say your LD voting friends are non-representative though - so many across the UK vote for them as the lesser evil, and Davie is the most liberal leader in a while (not a high bar however). But the Lib Dems just have form for centrism at all costs

Honestly, no. Lib Dems are pathologically opposed to left wing parties (began as a splinter off Labour in the 80s) and still follow Starmer/Tory opinions on most things. Non-english parties are extremely diverse, but also a bit weak outside Wales (SDP may never be as strong again in Scotland)

If the streaming business goes under. They want the IP to gain new subscribers but also owning such a big studio which runs things more traditionally (read sustainably) is future proofing the company. They're a bit desperate and owning WB helps them in the immediate and long term

Have more money than sense and need to keep growing or go under, and so buying an established studio gives the illusion of growth while also, they hope, some security, since the streaming only model isn't as profitable as they hope. Buying the second most successful film studio could save them if

Paramount is not really that strong in terms of its recent films or library as WB (Paramount has like Star Trek, Mission Impossible, and many classic films which are worthless), while WB has more currently popular IP (all of DC Comics, HBO) and the film studio is still going strong. Also Netflix
