MsP is absolutely right. Also, I think Sophie is much better equipped mentally to pick herself up and carry on living a full life when the break-up deservedly happens.

Over-scented sets of toiletries guaranteed to bring dermatitis.

I love it too! It's what we have for breakfast on Christmas Day in this house.

I think one of the reasons why Mordor is so strong is because Sauron has a reasonable grasp of *logistics* (vast slave-worked fields away to the south, etc). And it's a hobbit who wonders about this. Well, it would never be an elf.

I am unconvinced by the drains of anywhere in Middle Earth outside the Shire, as you know... (more broadly, the agriculture and economy is overflowing with handwavium). But it's miles and miles better than the Potterverse.

Middle-aged bigot harassing a literal child. Such a good look.

Georg Jensen, I think. And you've reminded me that I also need to find candles for the Advent wreath...

Fever Tree soft drinks are ok, but they don't tend to come as a single serving for out and about.

I used to be able to find proper San Pellegrino with sugar very occasionally (it was labelled "Original Italian") but not for ages. And I really really miss Orangina.

It's made it impossible to buy soft drinks in this country for me - they all have sweeteners in, which do not play nicely with my migraines. I really enjoyed being able to drink things that weren't water or fruit juice while I was travelling this summer.

If you're ever the right side of the Atlantic, I very much recommend visiting Boston's house (the Manor at Hemingford Grey). It is so exactly like the books, a really special place.

What languages did the 35 hermits living in Jerusalem in 808 pray to God in? Charlemagne wanted to know, so he found out. (Mostly Greek and Syriac)

My first thought when I saw those posters was "Gosh, very late-Victorian"

And I do not think the working conditions of those who sew them would bear close examination either.

It has often been noted that why would anyone pretend to be trans for the purposes of sexual predation when they could just carry a squirty bottle and a J-cloth and become completely invisible...

I know that one! My pictures of it involve fog though (and some regrettable early 90s fashion choices, I was 14).

Norfolk Museums do very cheap tickets for Universal Credit. Being able to do 'frivolous' things like that has an enormous effect on mental health.
