I’m proud of how our community is coming together to protect families facing impossible choices.
My work with Nuestra Lucha MN is what grassroots leadership means to me. It starts with listening and leads to action.

Grateful to receive the endorsement of Teto Wilson, a business owner and community leader who truly shows up for North Minneapolis. His work reflects what it means to invest in community with care and intention.

Hi, I’m Viviana Salazar, and I’m running for Hennepin County Commissioner for District 2.

With precinct caucuses coming up on February 3, I want to hear directly from neighbors. What is one county issue that affects your day to day life the most?

I am grateful for the endorsement of Anna Gerdeen, Executive Director of the Camden Collective. Her leadership reflects values that matter deeply to me: dignity, service, and showing up for our neighbors.

I was at DHH church when we learned of another loss of life. We don't yet have all the details, but the pain is real, and the grief is heavy.

Say it loud.
Say it clear.
Immigrants are welcome here.

Yesterday I attended Voices of Wisdom: Pathways to Peace in Golden Valley, an MLK celebration hosted by The Sweet Potato Comfort Pie.

After sharing stories at our table, all eight of us chose to donate our pie to Haven Pantry in recognition of their support for our immigrant community.

Interviewed by @wcconews.bsky.social about DOPA forms and the real fear families face around separation.

Through my work with Nuestra Lucha MN, we help protect children when parents are detained. As a community leader, I am committed to county systems that work for everyone.

Proud to share that I’ve been endorsed by Daniel Hernández, a respected business leader in our community. His support reflects our shared commitment to strong neighborhoods and a strong local economy as we work to move Hennepin County forward.

I sat with small business owners doing everything right and still barely hanging on. Sales are down, payroll is up, and promised support never reaches their accounts.

County leadership offered a resolution. Not relief. Not action.

Businesses need cash flow, not symbolism. Show up with action. 📣

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Martha Dimick.

Martha’s long-standing commitment to our community and to public service means a great deal to me. I’m grateful for her support and her confidence in this campaign.

Her name was Renee Good. She will not be forgotten.

How we respond matters. Today I chose to serve at Haven Pantry in North Minneapolis, standing with neighbors who need support. Turning grief into care is how we honor our community.

If you protest, please do so with peace.

What happened in South Minneapolis today should never have happened. Less than 24 hours after Chief O'Hara raised concerns about escalation, a life was lost. I'm filled with grief.

This cannot be minimized. Hennepin Co and Minneapolis must stand with the community and push for the full truth.

This is Viviana’s story — and why she leads the way she does.
Rooted in community. Driven by service.
January 3, 2026 at 4:22 PM
I show up. I listen. I advocate. Not just during elections — every day. Viviana Salazar is running to bring community voices into county government and fight for a safer, more equitable District 2.
January 3, 2026 at 4:21 AM
From Near North to across District 2 — this campaign is about community, courage, and connection. Join Viviana in building a future grounded in culture, safety, opportunity, and respect.
January 3, 2026 at 3:20 AM
Every voice deserves space. Viviana listens, learns, and advocates alongside families so that policy reflects people’s real lives.
January 3, 2026 at 2:19 AM
Viviana fights for:
• Public safety and violence prevention
• Housing stability & homeownership pathways
• Relief from rising property taxes
• Respect, opportunity, and cultural pride for all families in District 2.
January 3, 2026 at 1:17 AM
As Chair of the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission, Viviana made sure every voice was heard — from Spanish-speaking families to students sharing their stories of resilience.

VIviana chose to raise her family in Near North. She shows up for her neighbors, helps organize neighborhood cleanups, and fights for a future that honors the history and spirit of the community she calls home. "You take care of the place that takes care of you."

I founded Nuestra Lucha MN as a folkloric dance program for youth in North Minneapolis. What started small grew into a community-centered effort celebrating culture preservation, belonging, and pride. Belonging doesn't happen by accident.

Education matters. Viviana earned her degree from Mankato State University and is pursuing her Executive MBA at the Carlson School of Management, graduating in 2026. "Education helps me ask better questions and understand the tradeoffs behind public decisions."
