But none of our existing imaging methods (SoRa, STORM…) could really visualize integration within the bundled microtubules in neurites. So Ciarán set up U-ExM expansion microscopy, then performed it on microinjected neurons - now we could see plus-end growth and in-lattice renewal everywhere! 🧵 7/9

Introducing Cyclically Multiplexed Expansion Microscopy (Cy-ExM): a workflow for 3D nanoscale, high-plex imaging in whole cells. Cryo-preserved ultrastructure + iterative labeling + expansion microscopy → 20 targets in one dataset with ~70 nm lateral resolution.

Are you staining DNA in your ExM samples?

We have awesome news for you! All our 6 SPY-DNA probes work beautifully well with the U-ExM protocol.

You can now tune the color of the DNA channel to your needs, according to the fluorophores on your preferred antibodies.
