There’s a bit in Jurassic World where they reference the original park having poor PR after ‘the incident’, and the billionaire guy talks about carrying on ‘John’s work’. Plus the main scientist dude seems to have been in employment since the original development of the dinosaurs.

zero support from the airline: no one looking at support emails, no phone number to call, no one at the international terminal to speak to, the re-booking form is broken and errors.

the only option is a fucking ai bot and a typeform.

sincerely, fuck you.

In the canteen at Marsham St, an office shared by MHCLG, Home Office and DEFRA, I can always tell who’s a contractor (not a civil servant) because they ask for the receipt.

(Maybe the character in the book was working away from their main office? Accommodation and meals allowance?)

All fun and games for commercial lawyers, but is the UK public interest really served by monopoly control of national address data in the hands of Royal Mail (itself now owned by a Czech billionaire)?

I do like Openvibe, it’s good. But wondering how normal people (without a social media presence, or who don’t use it for work stuff) follow along. Without one having to manage a mailing list.

(Also wish RSS/Atom subscription was native to all modern email clients. The amount of people that have told me the Extract weeknotes are broken after clicking the RSS feed…)

💯

(Also kicking myself that I’ve not yet made it possible to reply to you via my website and <insert chosen protocol here> rather than reply over Bluesky.)

We’re going to have to write a paper on why it’s a good thing, the people in charge of comms and social media don’t understand protocols. (They said Mastodon was a security risk because it’s distributed but didn’t realise Threads runs on ActivityPub.)

Saw people at HMT asking about use cases for AI in policy-making 👀

Might still be covered by English Literature? My GCSE included novels, short stories, poetry, theatre… Although it wasn’t until university that we looked at letters and had modules on forms of non-fiction writing.
