I don't think it will create a *huge* splash in VR, but I'm hoping that it contributes to breaking barriers enough to help unsnare it in the long run.

I don't have high hopes for it, especially with the current economic situation...
But I'm hoping and pleading that the Steam Frame is priced with enough of an edge that it at least puts a lil kick back into the VR scene.

the Machine I'm a little worried about because I've heard they're pricing it *as a PC*, so it likely won't be competitive with consoles specifically.

But fingers crossed.

They've at least confirmed that they want to price it lower than than the Index, which puts it below $1,000

but I'm still worried.

average person owns 80 copies of Sonic Mania

actualy just statistical error.
average person owns 0 copies of Sonic Mania.

There's a lot of issues with the modern gaming industry, and Nintendo's a part of it.

Now, has Nintendo ever been a shining saint? No.
Do a lot of other companies pull garbage like this? Absolutely.

But that doesn't excuse this in my eyes. And I'm avoiding other companies for their horrendous practices too!
Ubisoft... Rockstar... Microslop...

In all the worst ways possible, I see Nintendo as the Disney and Apple of video games.

They sell you on an overpriced premium, that's locked down and to their narrow vision... and charge you for the privilege of being in their walled garden... not shying away from shoving things into the vault.

Much like the Switch 1, the Switch 2 seems to be continuing Nintendo's trend of playing with FOMO

3D All-Stars...
Super Mario 35...
Fire Emblem's 30th...

...and now the
The Switch 2 MKW bundle

Don't think about how the purchase might not be worth it, buy before it's too late!

Game key cards are becoming more normalized...

They introduced a new game sharing feature that would be a great plus on paper... if it wasn't as restricted as it was, and completely removed some great benefits from an already existing game sharing feature.
November 15, 2025 at 5:10 AM
And who knows if they'll ever flag false positives...

A lot of the Switch 2 seems to be about tightening things down, and screwing over the user. Turn over more control to the platform owner and publishers, and extract more money out of the user.

First late 90s cartridges and smaller than standard discs, reducing what developers can offer players...

...and nowadays, they're reserving the right to brick your console if they think you're doing something they don't want with it... even if it's not illegal (homebrew by itself isn't illegal).

Mario Kart World online races with the 3 lap setup? Too bad. The identity of the intermissions comes first, so we're locking that down.

And much like the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube, they love locking down on their anti-piracy vision, at the cost of the end user.
November 15, 2025 at 5:10 AM
They also have a tendency to patch out glitches that only really effect folks like speedrunners... doesn't matter what it is... "polish" comes before something cool and unique.

They'll also lock down play in ways they deem don't align with the game's advertised vision. Having fun playing

Something Nintendo's always been guilty of, but has been getting more grating over time is their insistence on locking down the experience, and forcing players to play in ways they deem fit.

Games will often be lacking in settings, or hide valuable settings away in odd ways (ie NSMBUD).

got it *better*. The sports games meanwhile, are pretty lacking in content, and tend to only get things like new characters and cosmetics that don't really fill the voids in the gameplay. It seems as if they're relying more on games being a service, and hoping online play suffices.
