Author. Recently published We All Wish, the start of the gritty-cozy Kennedy-Meyer crime drama series. Kinda like Spenser and Susan without the smarm.
Enjoy using #Calibre to convert a doc to EPUB and then tweak, tweak, tweak the HTML and CSS. I've got two books coming up soon on Kobo - the first two in my hard-boiled, gritty-cozy #Kennedy-Meyer series. #writing #editing #BookSky #WeAllWish #Flip 💙📚🖋️

Is it a law? I'm asking here: is it a law that the second you publish a #book, a big, fat, wet typo leaps up and slaps you in the face? Is. It. A. Law? #writing #editing #BookSky 💙📚🖋️

Just noticed a typo on a random page of my upcoming book. It's been proofed to death, this book, but there it is - 'Wison' instead of 'Wilson'. Probably no one would ever have noticed, but it would bother me to the grave. #BookSky 📚🖋️💙 #writing #editing

Surprised that my upcoming book took only nine drafts, instead of my usual 21 or 22. Am I improving, or lowering my standards? #writing #books #reading #BookSky

Success in 2026! Somebody read thirty-six pages of a book I removed from sale two years ago.

Well, I'll take my fifteen-cent royalties any way I can get 'em. #writing #writinglife

Not just 3D, either. I'd say that 3D and VR have had about eight lives each so far. Maybe one more go before AI sweeps us all under the carpet? www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

You make a post and it gets a like a half-second later. Not even enough time to read it. And it's usually a different account. Only about 10% of what we see on sm has any meaning or significance. This is one of the resaons I dumped bs and the other place. But I'm back. in. like a duhty shoit.

In about three weeks I'll publish Flip, the second novel in my gritty-cozy, noir, hard-boiled, rom-com crime drama (think Spenser and Susan without the smarm). #BookSky 📚💙🖋️ #writing The series began with #WeAllWish:

#AI is sloppy because it's warning us, giving us a chance: don't do it. Really - just don't. You think it's bad now? It will get worse in ways you can't imagine. AI is Tony #Soprano and Richie Aprile. Unfortunately, we're Davey Scatino, determined not to listen to multiple warnings.

There's always that moment when I have a book that's in the final stages of publication prep, and I have another that's 3/4 written, that I fall massively out of love with the one that's about to come out. Can't hold a candle to my brilliant next one! #writing #BookSky 📚💙🖋️ #editing

Did my first in-person book sale in November. Loved it. Had my best day ever, sales-wise, including five copies of my cat book, You Say You Want a Revolution. The world needs more cat books. #BookSky #writing 📚💙🖋️

Always do a final proofing in Kindle Create's previewer with the font blown up huge. Easiest way to spot typos, missing quotation marks, errant commas, etc. Then I get a print proof. #writing #editing #BookSky 📚💙🖋️

Reading Judith Hearne, by #BrianMoore. Compelling. Depressing, but compelling. The level of desperation in the novel is right up there with Of Human Bondage. Very similar books, really. #writing

In 2026, I shall publish the following:

Flip: the second novel in the Kennedy-Meyer crime/romance series (written, proofed, doing layout.)

The Short, Funny Pieces: needs no intro (mostly written)

Clearly Now 2: second novella in series about two extremely old men after the apocalypse (started).

I look at my #book sales since the Book Fest on Nov. 22 and I wonder why I bother marketing/selling from Jan to Nov. 20. Christmas is everything for book sales. Especially paperbacks. #Write from Jan-Nov and then sell, sell, sell in December.

Halfway through my first proofread, on page 130, and I've found about ten items so far, including an incorrect capitalization and an inconsistency. #DraftSeven #editing #WritingLife

Heard Bob & Doug McKenzie's 12 Days of Christmas on the radio this morning. Co-host asked host where it came from - was it related to McKenzie hot dogs or something?

I felt very #old.

Back at Bluesky and the other place after a lengthy stay-away. Had to share this great article about the humanities, which argues, counterculturally, that difficult is good: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...
Stop Trying to Make the Humanities ‘Relevant’
For humanities departments to continue to matter, they must challenge the modern world rather than accommodate it.

Just blew past thirty thousand words in my latest novel, the second in the Kennedy-Meyer series. Grand fun. Very encouraging. But now, back to work work. I hate how it eats into my fiction-writing time!

Rick Davies, gone. There's a piece of your misspent youth. Crime of the Century was a brilliant album.

Last week was a disaster, #writing -wise. Only managed a few hundred words. Hopefully back in form this week. Of late, I've been hitting over 4000 per week, but I'd settle for a solid 2500 this week.
