Woke up to the wonderful news that my paper about “effect of dismantling mandi (centralised agricultural trade market) on labor market” got accepted in Review of Development Economics. I started developing this project in 2022 as a side gig during PhD. I am glad it found a nice home after-all.

The best compliment is when students take two back to back courses with me in last two semesters and ask if they could take another course in fall with me. Customer loyalty?
Unfortunately, I had to disappoint them as I start new chapter in fall. Details soon! #lastdayofinstructions

One piece of advice for #econsky students/junior researchers is to cut down a regular paper to short paper standards (6000 words + 5 figures/tables).

Papers are too long for no good reason, but when space is scarce, you must write better and convey info in tables/figures efficiently.

Nice V-day gift from @land-econ.bsky.social to accept our paper about trade off between forest and agriculture. We find using one of the largest afforestation projects in India that forest expansion doesn’t necessarily hurt agriculture sector but in fact it helps indirectly. More details soon!

I realised that when people share their problems with me, they are not expecting a solution. All they expect to hear is, ‘Oh, I am sorry that happened to you. I wish I could help’.
That’s it! That’s all I have to say instead of providing a solution.
Life is so simple!

I was talking to a bunch of graduate students today. One student asked, “what is your insta a/c?”. I told him, “I am not on insta, I post on twitter”. He said, “You don’t look that old.”
Should I be happy about it?

Women empowerment is when women researching about women issues and getting honored for doing so! Best day for economics research today. Congratulations Claudia Goldin. I hope her work influences generations of women (and men) to work on gender inequality. 👏🏽
