But it’s not enough to call it Gandhi Road. It has to be Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Marg or some such. And people end up never calling it by its actual name.

I’ve lived in India, where EVERYTHING (roads, stations, airports, hospitals etc.) has to be given the name of a patriotic, culturally significant, historical figure.

The "Hey, Clive of India!" line cracks me up each time.
And. I get to be a bit smug imagining that not many British people (white or brown) get the reference. (Although, I'm sure a fair fraction do).
