Labour should act on indexation at the next Budget, obviously that raises questions about how it’s funded but the indexation could continue to change over time - it doesn’t all have to be done at once

The problem is Reeves sounds like she’s defending the Tory/LD changes which she voted against and were always destined to blow up in this way, and the Greens want to move the debate on to student debt cancellation (which is a different issue to indexation and just more fantasy thinking from them)

So because those affected couldn’t be bothered to do the bare minimum of retirement planning, there has to be yet *another* transfer of wealth from the working age population to boomers? Pull the other one. And how are you proposing this should be paid for?

There was simply no plan for what to do about the mayoral by-election, which (unlike losing to Reform in Gorton) could have meant Reform exercising real power. Frightening. A job swap with Lucy Powell in 2028 makes much more sense

There just seems to be a familiar pattern of:
-Politicians recognise fiscal context and need for reform, returning controls and conditionality to the system
-Everybody just says “more money needed” when it isn’t coming and accuses them of them being heartless/right-wing/not understanding anything
