I'd offer a slight note of caution that there are so many bad 18/19C jokes about chimney sweeps being 'black' (i.e. due to soot). Kent is described as a blackamoor, in a way that doesn't seem like a gag; Fatt 'of the same complexion' which is probably ok, but there is a slight chance it's not.
