On Dec. 7, Natick conducted its annual Pearl Harbor Day observances. Keynote speaker Bill Callahan, a retired U.S. Army officer, touched on service personnel from Natick who survived the attack, as well as the firefighters from Honolulu killed and wounded on that day.

On Nov. 11, Natick joined communities across the country in observing Veterans Day. Paul Carew, who will be retiring as Natick's Veterans Services Officer, received a special honor from state Rep. David Linsky.

More than two dozen veterans came to Kennedy Middle School on Nov. 7 for the annual Veterans Breakfast. The veterans shared their experiences with eighth-graders. In turn, the students presented hand-made posters thanking the veterans for their service.

The second annual Veterans' Storywalk will be at the Natick Common from Nov. 5-13. Each sign depicts a veteran who has taken part in the Natick Veterans Oral History Project.

The Legacy of Service, a collection of veterans' images from the Civil War to the present day, is at the Morse Institute Library in Natick. This year's display is dedicated to Cary Holmes, who began the Legacy of Service several years ago.

On Oct. 18, state Sen. Karen Spilka hosted her annual Senior Health and Wellness Fair at Keefe Tech in Framingham. Vendors offered the latest information on various programs, and attendees enjoyed a free breakfast and lunch. Thanks to Spilka, her staff and volunteers for staging this event.
