Watched Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs this evening and I thought it was a cute, serviceable kids movie (way better than Shazam)! I remember the marketing was rough back in the day, but @saberspark.bsky.social convinced me to give it a shot, and I enjoyed it :)

I watched Shazam 2019 and I just didn’t gel with it at all. Maybe it’s the stink of Zachary Levi, the under handed emotional beats, and the heavy handed comedic bits that undercut any vestige of sincerity.

(1/2) It’s been really depressing to see so many of my favorite creators, some of them friends, lament about financial troubles this year. Artistry should be enough for one to make a living, and it’s not fair that people with too much power can ruin that.

I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. This was first jotted down like back around March, but it didn’t feel like the right time. I wanted to pull the trigger on it in August, but a friend gave me some great advice to let it marinate for a more appropriate setting.
