I think some of these high-conflict personality types don't realize how many people find that kind of open conflict extremely off-putting. Which is why so much persuasion happens in the environments you describe

For at least some of them it provoked a nativist turn against gue'vasa allies because a bunch of them got possessed by demons and went apeshit due to warp fuckery. They killed all of their non-Tau auxiliaries and tell the rest of the empire that it's not worth it

Rural living works great for some people and I'm happy for them (including some family members) but the idea that a) rural means the same thing everywhere and b) it's a good fit for everyone is beyond out of touch
