I love American birds! I know we have cool wildlife in Australia, but I feel like most Americans don't notice and give much attention to all the nifty and beautiful critters in their own backyard. Love seeing vids like this.

I couldn't read the article but nurses endure so much bullshit from patients, doctors, the hospital system and community perceptions at large. I have no idea how they still manage to maintain professionalism and not go ham and start harming people. Full respect to them for their work.

Staying at home, slaving over housework and popping out kids with no independent income and few opportunities to learn and develop independence sounds like a nightmare to me. The pre-1970s domestic model and cultural norms were not fair to women.

One thing I would like to point out though? The gender issue: Was as simple as "Spouses had to go to work"? A lot of women WANTED to have educational & career opportunities, but sexism kept us out of certain areas. Women aren't just mothers & caretakers.
