The other Q is documenting the sidewalks that have contested institutional ownership. Are cleaning highway/railway bridges ped space IDOT/RR's responsibility? CDOT has agreements for maintenance of infrastructure owned by other agencies. Where are they responsible for related to sidewalk clearance?

This 100%. CDOT would be greatly relieved. It would be interesting to see if/how S&S is being coordinated with for the pilot. Are they?

We should be assembling a GIS layer of the sidewalks that do fall under municipal responsibility and monitor those closely to document what is not being cleaned.

Every other street in the loop is a traffic sewer. But if you want to get angry, think about all the 6-7 story parking structures. As a daily loop pedestrian and transit rider, shit is depressing... and dangerous. 💀

This stuff is not hard to find. Fabindia and Anokhi have too many block amazing printed clothes. Styles a little boring, but the prints are soooo good. They have big footprints in India and online. To scale so rapidly, they've created huge networks of "micro-sweatshops."

100%. San Francisco has been doing this too. Great way to protect daylit areas and... Make Intersections Complicated Again.

IDOT is paying for DLSD, so they have a larger say in the process. And for worse an oversized hand in adjacent roadway planning. Regardless of who "leads."

I also <3 Ludacris. I would guess that you can thank: AKA (on street parking) / Lab School ESH (parent car drop offs) / Metra (station cleaning + security parking) / UChicago (prioritizing vehicle throughput + lower employee commute times) for keeping this street unecessarily wide and uncalm.🫡

Seriously... The Black 2023 Audi A6 in Brooklyn that racked up $58k in tickets over 18 months?! Allowing that driver to remain at the wheel is aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

100%. Underground utilities are deal breakers for raised lanes. Even when agencies pay (ComEd, AT&T, etc) there too are many places where added design hours and revisions (when underground atlases are wrong) fuck budgets and extend timelines. Underground complexity kills important features.

It was so shitty. Parking and home value is all folks care about. Lots of bad blood. Much of the chaos falls at the feet of the alder. Facilitation / moderation was nonexistant. No dialogue. Folks were just slinging fantasy conspiracies. It was capitulation to an angry mob not a townhall.

Def bring food and drink. The food you get is "edible," but only b/c you are bored. Bring a blanket and stake out a spot in the observation car. Think about where you will be at sunrise/sunset and plan seating (in the observation car) accordingly. Also... gummies to help the delays.
