Apologies for the wall of text, just wanted to get this out there!
Hey y’all! I’ve been really enjoying dipping my toes into the world of NSFW art, but I’m also a bit nervous. I love drawing lewd stuff and showing it to people who want to see it, but my worst nightmare is my characters becoming known more for horny art than for their personalities and adventures, and I want to avoid that at all costs. That being said, the whole point of the artistic project I began in 2020 was to use my art and writing to bring my characters to life, and horny art is part of that! The ways in which a character expresses their sexuality are important, interesting, and fun to think about and depict in art. The lewd stuff I make of these characters functions, for me, as character study as much as anything else. I put a lot of thought and consideration into it, and I’m proud of the artwork that comes out of that process. Going forward, I need to think on how to go about sharing that sort of work without jeopardizing the integrity and reputations of my characters, but this also brings me to a new point. Recently, a few artists have asked for permission to draw sexual images of my characters, and I’ve always said yes. But now, I’d like to rescind that. To be clear, no one has done anything wrong! This is just new territory for me, and I’m finding out what my boundaries should be as I go, in real time. That being said, you can still feel free to ask! I’m just less likely now to say yes than I was before. Even if I decline, I’ll never be offended by someone telling me they find my characters attractive enough to want to make horny art of them, haha. I’ll also say that I am putting some effort into creating characters just for NSFW purposes, and I don’t expect to be as precious with them. My Gray Old Trees dragons are just special to me, and I want to make sure I’m presenting them to the world in the best way I can! Thanks for understanding! -Strath
