The "AI all the things" hype seems to be everywhere but in what world does my mouse need to be AI enabled?

I made the switch to @kagi.com for search. I couldn’t take the ads and AI slop responses anymore. Now I just need to break the habit of scrolling past the top results… they’re actually real, relevant results now 😅

I checked out so hard for the past few weeks, I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten how to do my job. It’ll come back to me at some point this week, probably🤞

It’s halfway through Friday and I’m already dreading work on Monday. That’s gotta be a good sign, right? 😩

Our daughter really wanted to be up at midnight so we are anxiously awaiting midnight so we can go to sleep. It’s way past my bedtime 🥱😴.

Happy new year!

All the talk about y2k takes me back to NYE 1999 when I spent the night at the national guard armory waiting to be deployed if bad things started happening.

I’m glad I was bored that night because all the major issues had been addressed in time.

I just cannot articulate the amount of non-work that happens in corporate tech. So many words being said in meetings, so many documents and write-ups and meetings and messages—and barely ANYTHING gets *communicated*. It’s a sea of performativity, where treading water is confused for swimming.

Shoving AI into it will improve your software like cilantro makes blue cheese and anchovies a better dessert.

I took a little time off for the holidays and I have a sinus infection, as is tradition.

When I was a kid, I always had a tendency to get sick when I was off from school. That has continued into adulthood with time away from work. I don’t understand it and I don’t like it.

I got my flu and Covid vaccines on Friday.

I felt like I got hit by a truck all day yesterday. Woke up feeling fine this morning and everything outside is just one giant sheet of ice.

This is what I get for planning to leave my house to do things this weekend.

Maybe next weekend 🙃
