Crunchyroll announced last year or so that they were going to stop paying translators and just use AI to create subtitles. The subtitles are terrible. Crunchyroll doesn't care.

I stopped giving Crunchy money when they first announced that they were going to use machine translation (AI) for subtitles. There's plenty of other streaming sites with anime that doesn't use LLM's for terrible subs.
