GenXer who grew up on PBS in a small town & ended up in Fortune 5s. I have very strong feelings about our failed government, media, tech, fascism .. and video games. Not here for clout, just old and treat this like it’s a BBS 🙂

I understand that there are a lot of people out there who think they have good intentions and love to take their ideological opponents in good faith because it makes them seem fair and reasonable and I truly cannot overstate how dangerous this is to trans people and how much they should stop

it would be nicer if we all lived in a world of debate club where everyone was free to express their opinions and never lied about their intentions or behaved in bad faith but that's not the world we live in and it is important to deal with reality as it is, not as we want it to be

Yup, “not like that” is a perpetual trap that keeps the victim blamed for provoking the bullying every single time.

Nobody should ever engage with a topic using the frame the media presents, since it‘s always maximally flattering to the right and erases most/all of their bad faith and behavior.

It seemed really obvious all along that “open borders” just meant “lets even a single brown or Black person through” and it‘s insane that despite it meaning this for decades, we never had a single societal discussion about their desire for a white only policy vs. taking their bad faith at face value

the layoffs of 2022 and 2023 in tech companies hit designers and other user experience folks hard. Who cares about experience when customers don’t have any other choices but your software and/or when you can just copy your competitor UI (who also fired all their design and usability experts)

I really wished I lived in a country that wasn’t so willfully and consistently blind to how sexist it is, or else we wouldn’t have to reach for rehabilitating a stupid, hateful, but *ambitious* woman who hit the glass ceiling in the “women should be property” party and left for her own advancement.
