Congratulations to UVA's Majid Shafiee-Jood, who will be part of a new research project supported by the NOAA Weather Program Office. Working with a team, he will investigate how people respond to hazardous weather communication, including both weather warnings and emergency directives.

Jane Lubchenco was a warm, thoughtful, and interesting speaker at the Environmental Futures Forum 2025. She answered questions on the state of environmental policy - where we've been and where we can expect to go. We are grateful for her visit to Charlottesville.

Andres Clarens, associate director of the Institute and an
engineering professor, will moderate a panel at the Forum on Energy + Infrastructure. Clarens co-leads the "CRI" project at UVA. CRI is an interdisciplinary team assessing how Virginia can meet its net-zero carbon targets.
