Hey new followers!

I'm Ust. I have a strange name. It rhymes with east.

I post about children, France, how France compares to the UK, my love for food, and occasionally about tech and data.

I sometimes communicate in gif, as well as Franglais and English.
Since when has it been OK to not stop for pedestrians waiting at a zebra crossing?

Just been ignored by two drivers.

Was wrongly delivered Lola’s Cupcakes. It was heartbreaking to give them back to the delivery driver.

Well BT, you’ve had two and a half weeks to sort out my broadband, you’ve not kept your promise and I’m going elsewhere.

Since coming back from France, the noticeable change has been that the cost of groceries in the UK is comparable with France. The quality, however…

Just started this book, but I like it so far. It already aligns to my view of governance, and has given me many more ideas.

Little O hates learning phonics and reading, but we’ve recently discovered a game that covers all of that and he’s loving it.

That feeling when you bring spare clothes for the children but none for yourself, yet you’re the one who gets submerged by a wave.

That’s a lot of statutory rights that they’re nullifying with this stupid legislation.
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

Why aren’t there any modified trains in the Mad Max world?

Really annoyed with BT right now. It’s been an entire week since my broadband has gone down and all they can do is say “that’s strange”.

Replacement parts did bugger all and an engineer has been incredibly hard to get hold of.

I am not sure that I will continue as a customer.

Great way to undermine already weak business confidence.

This generation of Conservatives deserve to be relegated to the bin. Completely lacking in any intelligent thought.
Lam hears "settled status" and "guaranteed by withdrawal treaty" as up for grabs:understood to be temporary "provisional arrangements" which can be transitional and unsettled if and when you want to

That is highly counterintuitive as language of 'settled', as law & as politics of Treaty guarantees.

Totally unnecessary parentheses in an otherwise average article about AI.

Tell me how you really feel about Sydney Sweeney…

Mel Stride will need to take a long hard look at state processes and investment to get those numbers down. The world, and the UK, is more complex and underfunded than it was in 2016.

I’m not actually against Digital IDs, I just think that you’re going to leave people behind if you don’t also have physical cards.

And after three years in France, I’m pro-ID cards - it makes interacting with the state so much easier (although a separate card for medicine is a faff).
Digital IDs.. what a joke. Physical IDs would be so much better

Let’s talk about productivity.
There’s a group of people who are convinced that AI is the solution to the productivity crisis we find ourselves in but that’s only going to have some much impact before it faces the productivity constraints.

Rather unrelated to the article, but if companies in the US are no longer required to report cyber security breaches they should still report them if only in the interest of transparency and transparency creating trust.
