Academic at the ⋂ of cities, technology, and climate adaptation. Reluctant polygon enthusiast. Sometimes I work on computational geometry and spatial data algorithms, which I promise almost never to discuss.
I saw it described as "Calvinball" (by insiders) recently, which I thought was excellent. I try to be open-minded, because there's always good work being done if you can push past the bullshit. Your average heterodox macroeconomist usefully deploys Marx in amazing ways!

According to Paul Simon, who clearly cannot be trusted.

(It's not my plugin; I just met it at a party and liked what it had to say)

Truly, a crime.

The last time I saw Baumkuchen here it had been brought from Japan and was unfamiliar, though not unpleasantly so. I wonder whether Asia Market might oblige you…

I like SQL just fine, but I don’t love the raw strings. But that’s OK, because there’s a DuckDb driver for Sqlalchemy: motherduck.com/docs/integra..., so you have a nice ORM (and you can fall back to sql within it if you need to)
SQLAlchemy with DuckDB and MotherDuck | MotherDuck Docs
SQLAlchemy is a SQL toolkit and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) system for Python, providing full support for SQL expression language constructs and various database dialects.

I think you’re becoming negatively polarised against any kind of criticism on Bluesky, because of the site’s (generally speaking) insane reactions to LLMs and to you when you try to discuss them. That having been said, you are completely in the wrong here. Just respect Eric’s wishes.

Hoo boy. Roger.

The German Linux Guys are kinda keeping the flame burning. “GitHub is immoral because it refuses to guarantee access to its platform to 14-year-olds”.

Oh dear god the "Omega" paragraph I did not want to know that about him at all. Probably at the bottom of my list of things I wanted to know about him is what he likes to do in bed.

bottom scale. really.

This is so embarrassing. It's like a pantomime!

More non-concrete information has been trickling in all week: now it seems like one of the Sentinel SAR birds picked up a "dark ship" in Dublin bay, five hours before the drones were sighted, and it's being implied that there's a link between the two: archive.ph/wVmZ2

Oh yeah, absolutely.
December 10, 2025 at 6:55 PM
An incredible look, honestly.

“Well, sort of. Obviously the details are obscure to you and I, as we aren’t uhhh…initiates? So yeah basically I have no idea so we’re all just going to roll with it. Great to chat!”

Oh god, and they would not appreciate any smart answers about it, either.
