Trump is claiming that article 51 of the UN chapter gives him this authority. A51 gives countries the right to preemptively attack against armed attacks.

Not to mention, even if what he is doing is legal, he is required by law to provide Congress with justification/etc.
His admin is refusing

I’m not going to argue that I didn’t have questions about the law Obama used to carry out attacks, but the ENTIRE right attacked him constantly for that & said he was committing crimes.

Also, the legal framework Trump is claiming, was specifically for terrorist threats from 9/11 & the ME.

If … ‘don’t follow illegal orders’ erodes the trust service members have in the chain of command’ … that says a whole lot more about the current administration than the reminder.
