New image-processing techniques revealed this latest look, built from NASA/ESA Hubble data captured in 2009. Bruce Balick, @uofwa.uw.edu professor emeritus of astronomy, led the original research.

More than a decade ago, Cassini data suggested Saturn’s moon Titan hid a vast underground ocean. New research by UW and NASA scientists shows its interior is more likely made of deep layers of ice and slush instead.

Total enrollment is up across all three University of Washington campuses for the 2025-26 academic year, according to the annual census count released this month.

UW alum Mary Brunkow, ’83, won the Nobel Prize in Medicine this morning.
