It’s a story development. If it gets split and down the road they want to re-unify them, you have a built in plot device. Maybe Take wins the C2, and then comes for Okada’s International title so he can show he’s worthy of being the Unified champion too.

I think they could’ve solved it by calling it the Unified Global Championship bc they are simultaneously the international champion and continental. Continental is the same as North American. Combine them and you have another World title. I’m okay with the C2 being the only time it can be split.

I think after Cena leaves their next nostalgia play will be Jericho and they probably will bring back Saraya to do a nostalgia program with AJ. Not sure how much it will help them though.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens after Cena’s gone. I’ve seen a few Youtubers complaining they are going to watch Cena’s retirement bc it’s Cena but they’re done after that. Lots of ppl in their comments in agreement too.

They’ll do things that are unpopular even though they could make the fans happy. Which now that I expand on that it goes against my point. 😄 This subversion with LA would be the opposite of that.

Oh, no, I haven’t watched since they got in bed with the Saudis. I get snippets of info from social media and Youtubers. This is going back, but they usually subvert in bad ways, like Brock beating Taker’s streak. Or Brock squashing Cena.

Exactly. That’s where I think it’ll fail. I think it’s just a bone they’re throwing and will ultimately disappoint bc it won’t mean he’s moving him up.

Exactly. It’s obvious they have no interest in moving them up. I think if WWE doesn’t care about LA Knight fans, which is likely, Gunther will win. But keep in mind LA is probably pushing behind the scenes for more. I think Trips will see it as a way to subvert while placating both LA and the fans.

Yeah but giving him Cena’s retirement gets the haters off their back a little bit without putting him in the main event scene. I think they’ll use it to stall him longer in the midcard.

I doubt they’ll ever push him into the top title picture, but if they do I bet he’ll get a short run like Kofi and then Brock will demolish him in a squash and he’ll never be in the main event title picture again.

Agreed. In AEW Kyle would be the one deserving of the Cena rub. I think, though, they’re actually planning to throw LA Knight fans a bone. My prediction is, he wins and retires Cena. Everyone thinks they did something good for a bit, then after a few months he’ll lose the IC title.

I said when they merged them that they were going to stay merged until Okada loses the C2. I agree though, I’d rather they keep them merged. Otherwise, why create the National championship?
