I’m trans and I’ve been without healthcare since I fled Florida because I haven’t had the money to declare citizenship in another state yet. My Medicaid sits in FL while I currently sit in New Mexico as the most likely state for me to have a chance of survival as a homeless, trans, autistic person.

Notes:
Latin phrase is from the Roman poet Horace: “It is sweet and fitting to die for one’s country.”

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.—
Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Dulce et Decorum Est
BY WILFRED OWEN

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

Yup! I said that in my post

We have a chance to swing the senators. The majority is slim and a lot of them don’t like a lot of things about the big ugly bill.

Yes, check out what I’ve written in the alt text (why does Blue Sky have ten times the text space in the image description as it does in the main post?) where I go into detail about why the contempt clause opens the door for King Donald the First, followed by King Junior.

The king clause is the absolute worst, though. That’s the paragraph that officially changes us from floundering democracy to dictatorship.

@kurtrisser.bsky.social Are you aware of the “king clause” Trump slipped into his massive Big Ugly Nightmare Bill?

Thank you!

Oh damn. I cook best over flame. Science doesn’t lie but I can still kind of hate the truth (while also avoiding gas stoves from now on.)

In every area of life! The head of HHS is an anti-vaxxer who complains about autistic people allegedly costing taxpayers a trillion dollars and is building a database of all autistic people to hand to a man with no medical training who forced autistic children to take sterilization drugs.
