a slightly crazy pretty-far-left liberal, avid reader, would-be writer, who should probably get the hell out of Texas except that it's still almost two years to retirement. Was kicked off Xitter before it was cool.

My grandmother’s first child, a boy, died of diphtheria as an infant (mid-1920s) The dr wouldn’t even make a house call, because there was nothing he could do.

Learned this when I was 6 or 7–I think it was the most horrifying thing I’d ever heard. It also really convinced me I needed all the shots.

I enjoyed the books, but my husband is with you--one of the books started with a long exposition--someone walking down an interminable flight of stairs thinking about things (cannot remember who or what)--and my husband refused to read any further.

He did enjoy the HBO series, though... :)

Trump has trained all his life to be a con man and a grifter.

We did too, for exactly the same reason. Had reconstructive surgery a while back & they didn't want to fill the Rx I was given for pain, even though they'd been our pharmacy for yrs. The Costco pharmacy is easy to deal with & they'll even try to find ways to make the pricey ones more affordable.

I don't know; maybe it's just that in general that we like him better when he's asleep and not actively spewing anything at all.

I'm wondering if it's just coincidental that the Starbucks CEO has taken greed to another order of magnitude.

(A joke. Not that I don't believe he's morally bankrupt; it's just that the number is pretty evocative.)

Had some interest in that when I came across it but didn't know how to get into a study. As I returned to relative sanity, I thought maybe it should just be dispensed in the water supply, so we could all be saner, but then I remembered the dissociative part of the experience... so never mind lol...

these were things I knew had happened, but the memories now had color and detail and context, and I began to see the damage my mother caused. I also began to remember people I loved more clearly. It was a gift.

I know it's being studied for PTSD therapy (along with peyote & LSD)...

Never had any recreational interest in ketamine but was given it for emergency surgery outside the US a few years ago. Had a pretty trippy dissociative experience, but recovery was easier.

The weird shit started 2-3 mos later--I'd wake up from a dream and remember things, esp from childhood...

I'd say that the Trump administration frequently gets their facts from the Onion, except that the Onion's are also usually better.

I always have mixed feelings about that... while I always enjoy shopping at a promising book sale, it also makes me sad for the library and its patrons. My jr high school's library enabled my very survival... without the decades of books they still stocked, I don't know if I'd be here now.

Bookshops are my happy place... new ones are great, but hunting for books that I might have missed, surrounded by the scent of old paper and bindings, is pretty much my idea of heaven. You never know what hidden gem you'll find... :)

I love the description of the Daleks as "Outer Space Robot People". A masterpiece of understatement, even during the 1st doctor's time :)

The big white cat is okay with tuna but his favorite thing in the world is granola. Seriously. When I have some, I am required to share, which means separating out clumps *and* the finer residue (choking/breathing hazards). When he's done, he even checks to be sure I'm not holding out on him...
