I can't believe an enemy in this dungeon is just a hot girl smoking weed. She hasn't even done anything in any of the encounters she just smokes and dies

-have faults, but the gameplay isn't one of them. There's a reason the Job system from the Bravely Default games was just ripped straight from Final Fantasy 5, because it just works.

- It's way faster in the remake, and that kinda misses the whole feeling I had when seeing it. That whole 'shit, who's dying' moment. That brief pause while you watch him heft that heavy axe up and swing it down. A lot of that is kinda missing for me.

It's complicated. Like...there's times the animations of the monsters don't bother me, but like, with the Hoodie enemies (big bulky guys), they have an animation where they lift their axe over their head and slam it down with both hands. That was a crit animation, and you didn't want to see it.-

-version instead."

I think it's the sprites. I like how weighty the animations are in the GBC version. For a while, I didn't even realize that the raven enemies were pecking to attack in that version, I genuinely thought they were dropping the skull they perch on to attack.

My thoughts on the remake are still mixed, because I think that the GBC version is more technically impressive given just how much was packed into that little cartridge. Like, don't get me wrong, the backgrounds are gorgeous in the remake but...there's times I'm going 'I could just play the GBC-

watching it again made me appreciate it so much more. God, I love even the little things, like how loyal the Koopa Troop is compared to Eggman's Forces being represented wordlessly, and how Bowser shields his army from the Death Egg's blast.

Fuck, what a magical three minutes.
