The art I think about most often is usually wrath effects, with my absolute favorite being Kev Walker's art for Wrath of God - so incredibly iconic; I wish I could buy a print of it.

This painting, Saturn Devouring His Son ~1823 by Francisco Goya, is very striking and has an interesting history. It's not possible to say what subject and/or theme(s) Goya was actually intending to depict in this painting but it is definitely viscerally unnerving.
