L (who's never seen it before) raised really good point about how PW plays bill so well, as a guy who performs calmness but is actually really struggling to hold it together. It's very much a film about grief.

It's a popular fan theory that the script began as a Warhammer 40000 story. The gothic architecture aesthetic is very 40k, and that concept of tearing space to travel through a hell dimension of chaos is the central premise (the warp) of the Warhammer worlds.
