The drivetrain in this works by running the ICE as a generator to charge a battery that powers an electric motor to drive the wheels, with a clutch that can connect the ICE to the wheels via a fixed gear ratio around 45mph. The "gears" are all fake.

I presume this result is from the gearbox emulation mode, the same drivetrain in the Civic Hybrid (with fake shifts but no paddles) does 0-60 in 6.1s. The Prelude is probably closer to that in regular driving.
