Sunset this evening doesn't look too promising so here's a wave shot I captured last month just off Ucluelet, Vancouver Island #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

Refecting on this passed summer as we roll into December. Remembering when Ucluelet was extra beautiful for a bit thanks to a plankton bloom. We get one most years but this summer's bloom was the largest near here in some time.

The weather in Ucluelet today may allow for some sunset viewing and should be great for our midnight madness shopping adventures this evening. Here's a clip from a November sunset in 2023, shot from Big Beach. #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

A few more seconds from the new virtual storm watching video I recently uploaded to YouTube. Shot from the deck at Bell Buoy Guest Suite in Ucluelet during a storm last December. Link to the full video in the comments #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

Join me for an evening on the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet. These are some highlights from a video shot earlier this year where we walk the trail, check out some of my favourite views and watch the sunset. The full 4K, 8 minute video is on YouTube #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

Buoy Y43 rings its bell through a storm in December of 2024. It, along with Y42 (the red buoy) and the Amphitrite lighthouse mark the north end of Barkley Sound and guide mariners to the relative safety of Ucluelet harbour. #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

Last year ended with a series of decent storms. We were house-sitting for some friends near the water so I was able to capture quite a bit of footage. Here's a moment from a new video captured then that I just uploaded to the YouTube channel. #vancouverisland #Ucluelet #Tofino

People generally assume I use some sort of massive, purpose built, drone for my stormy wave shots. Surprisingly I use very small drones that are classified as microdrones.

Human bachelors come to Ucluelet to go fishing and surfing with the boys. California Sealion bachelors do, too. Here are a couple of the latter having a blast among the rocks at Big Beach in September of 2024. #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

A pair of common mergansers (I think) enjoying the sunset at Big Beach in Ucluelet. I'm going through my back catalog and reorganizing so I'm finding some old gems. This one goes back to Spring of 2021 in UkeeTube's early, pre-drone days. :P #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

Just before sunset during the "bomb cyclone" storm thta hit Vancouver Island last year at this time I shot this little clip near Reef Point in Ucluelet. It's still one of my favourite captures and #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

From a remote location just north of Ucluelet during last year's "bomb cyclone" storm. It's the anniversary of the storm so I'm resharing slips from a longer video I made at the time. You cna find the full video on YouTube #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland

One year ago today much of Vancouver Island was without power after a "bomb cyclone" storm hit the island. It was one of the largest storms in recent decades and I was able to capture some of the drama from Ucluelet. #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland #Stormwatching

Last night's sunset at Big Beach in Ucluelet. I'm still working on the exposrure of these "motionlapse" clips. I definitely didn't nail it for this one but It's neat to be able to make out the shadows cast across the sky by the clouds. #Ucluelet #Tofino #VancouverIsland
