They have enacted hiring freezes, slashed department budgets, and closed entire programs taking advantage of the chaos and confusion to cut more funding than appears needed.

Despite the fact that the California legislature is providing ‪@uofcalifornia.bsky.social‬ with the same general fund allocation in 2025-26 that it provided last year, UC campus administrators are imposing harsh and harmful cuts.

UC-AFT Local 1474 joins @seiu.org and labor activists around California and the country in demanding the immediate release of SEIU California and SEIU-USWW President David Huerta. On June 6 in Los Angeles, Huerta was injured and detained observing and documenting law enforcement during an ICE raid.

What’s on the ballot? Every two years, UC-AFT elects officers to our statewide Executive Board. Chapters may also be voting to elect new leader, coucil delegates, and revised bylaws. Unit 18 teaching faculty will elect 2 table team representatives for the upcoming bargaining.
