Yes, this. Containers are evil. Also avoid all humans who wear clothes and live in houses.

Nice rendition! Shri is one of my favorite raags.

No one ever said it was. This is the biggest strawman. So fucking sick of this.

The feel of this piece is similar to the soundtracks the guy makes for the Sassy the Sasquatch/Big Lez show animations, though your playing style is very different. I think you'd like what he's doing.

"Freedom of choice... is what you've got; freedom from choice... is what you want". -Devo

"There was a poem, in ancient Rome, about a dog who had two bones... he licked the one; he licked the other; he ran in circles... he dropped dead" -ibid

Give me a knob or two, or three. A billion choices? Oof

You might need old pennies to do it... the composition has changed.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Things must have very different when both cities were founded than they are today. Baltimore would definitely be better off if they were incorporated into the county. I think the county would benefit, indirectly, too, but it's a hard sell politically.

I bought some CDs at the thrift store, and the checkout guy, was like, "um, I guess these are CDs?".

I'm not going to work out the math but on the surface it looks like there's still strong evidence of bias, but not as bad as it appears without adding in the city.

But it would be like comparing traffic stops on the NJ Turnpike to the local population of whatever town it's passing through that they're studying. A high % of people driving on the NJT are not local.

Baltimore city is majority Black. To get anywhere out of the city, you have to drive through the county. Baltimore residents are NOT counted as part of the county's population. It may be the only city in the US that's not part of a county. To be clear, I'm not saying there's no bias.
October 27, 2025 at 1:06 PM
It seems to me looking at the wrong numbers is skewing the results, and making a bad situation appear worse than it actually is. The racial stats of Baltimore County residents is not relevant... the stats of people driving through it is. Baltimore city is not part of the county but is in its center.

Cool, I'll definitely check them out. Sounds like they've been quite successful with it, which doesn't surprise me at all. Hopefully it will inspire others. I have no doubt it will.
October 26, 2025 at 7:53 PM
That's why I'm picturing this in clubs, where you'd have the freedom to do it your own way. Might be tough financially, at least at first, so maybe not the thing for a guy with a toddler. But maybe you'll teach the ones who go do it.
October 26, 2025 at 7:49 PM
I'll check him/them out too! Thanks.
October 26, 2025 at 7:47 PM
I'll check him out, thank you. These people need a marketing team. I could see three acts (solo or chamber) on a touring bill playing clubs instead of symphony halls, reaching a totally different audience and getting huge. There are new-music folks like Ethel doing stuff like that, but it's composed
October 26, 2025 at 7:45 PM
But frankly, there are plenty of jazz musicians out there already, more than the market can bear, if making a living at it is an issue. Classical improvisers, not so much. The world needs more of that, and I think it would be embraced. *disclaimer*: this is not meant as advice

She and I could not be friends. I've never much cared for cake. Would rather have pie on my birthday. Cut the sugar in half (or more) in recipes. Go ahead, don't trust me.
