re: water, usage is actually negligible compared to golf courses or agriculture. the "draining aquifers" narrative is mostly fearmongering

oracle cloud's always free tier lets you run an always-on aarch64 VM with zero cost, I currently run a vscode tunnel into it for development of my discord bot

it's handy because I have multiple devices and it's always easily accessible
oracle cloud free tier maximally configured: 4 ocpus, 4Gbps bandwidth, 24GB Memory neofetch of the ubuntu 24.04.1 running on the oracle machine

Got my Letta/Discord integration working fairly well on my test server. I'm hoping to get it into a more realistic environment soon for further refinement.

4 raspberry pis and an ethernet switch mounted to a 3d printed board, LEDs glowing. the raspberry pis are powered with PoE from the switch using PoE HATs. one of them (the pi5) has an m.2 SSD HAT. each of the other pis has a small USB drive that they boot from. the same Pi board as the previous image. to the left, a large HDD and a GMKTec mini PC completes the homelab setup.
