6 miles in 55 minutes. Extended usual by adding 1 of my old dog walks, only to find 5 years of bramble growth is not easy to get through! Lots of snow up the valley but nothing on this route. Lovely light - so energizing, and even the cold North easterly turned into a nice tail wind for the return.

4.5 miles of my usual, taking about 8 mins and 30s for each mile. Not actually raining but everything is just so wet. Crossed the field and managed the track parallel to the river which only turned swampy as it ended. Glad I did it, if only to release some of those En dolphins for a swim!

Tyne Green Hexham - Another great ParkRun event. About 200 participants. We were all warned about the slippy conditions, particularly at the turn and a slight detour off the mud was a clever alteration. Wonderful turn out by all the marshals who were super positive and encouraging.

Truly Dreich! Though BBC Weather apologists said "light rain with a fresh breeze". Surely this was weather measured inside someone's house? Outside the wind took 2° off the 4°C temperature and everywhere was just sooo wet. As a runner, got to stay positive but had to change my route away from river.

Back to usual route along South Tyne river in the North of England. First mile was tough -2/3*C and very wet underfoot. It made me feel embarrassed at my recent complaints of too windy and sandy! Started to feel decent after mile 2. Some evidence of Spring around the corner with snowdrops appearing.

My app reminded me I had entered some sort of virtual 5k thing so I felt obliged. Very slow, round the houses route with the high light being the distraction of lots of kite surfers - all going faster than me. Windy? Oh yes! Ask the folks with the kites.

Yesterday's run - really dodgy internet. 4.5 miles out and back along Madeira Bay, passing Pirate galleon themed restaurant, complete with life size Johnny Depp - Jack Sparrow! Really pleased with deliberate alterations in pace governed by playlist of 2/3 minute ska/punk songs and steady soul/disco.

Hugged the shoreline for a run today. Went for a recce walk yesterday and all was good. However, flippa floppering my way lightly over a sandy beach of what I believed was compacted sand was a different experience to my heavy gait stomping along. Not complaining but achilles and calves are aching.

4 miler, flat and strong NE wind which is tricky on the long straight section 1/2 mile in. Red indicates short intense burst before 1 mile mark. The use of cobbles on paths and roads is a puzzle. I m guessing whoever sold the idea to this island is £s in and laughing on a Florida beach.

Sal island Cabo Verde in the South of the North Atlantic(?). Flat and very windy. Impossible to get lost apparently - well I did it! 5 miles with my pre planned route destroyed by an all inclusive resort which did not include me. Nice tarmac, cobbles and strength sapping sand.

Usual running route 4.5 miles in 38 minutes. Still some small icy patches. Inspired by some of the advice/info exchanged on this pleasant platform, I m hoping to exert more control over my breathing and heart rate during exercise. Really laboured uncomfortable start but eventually settled down.

Couldn't settle down with coffee n shortbread to watch #Spinerace dots without a little jog. Repeated Monday's beast route. 6.66miles(11k in new money) in 66 mins VERY slippery. From mile 2 to 3, usually easy speedy descent was a black run needing tentative steps. GOOD LUCK SPINE RACERS!

Having exercised the one eyed dog,(not a euphemism!) I knew it was still pretty cold out. Ground temp warmer than Monday but increased wind chill. Ice remaining on small areas of the River and in some fields. Usual route, 4.5 miles in 39 minutes, slippery through the field but generally ok.

Great run out of the valley. Challenging ascent but very cold temperatures made usually wet areas easy to navigate, only becoming too slippery in a couple of sections. Beautiful light and visibility. More pleased with the 652ft of elevation gain than the 6.5 mile distance. Felt comfortable.

Despite my bravado, I didn't do a NYD ParkRun so had to do one today. Temperature well below 0*C but no wind and great visibility at Tyne Green, Hexham. No ice underfoot on trail, tarmac or grass. Much gratitude to the volunteers who made this event happen in such cold conditions- THANK YOU

Well that's it! 6oo at 6o! December has been a blast but a more even distribution would be sensible. Never going to run again....but then there's a Park Run tomorrow and another on Saturday, maybe a 10K and a 1/2 Marathon in 26? Happy NY(when it comes) to all the Blue Sky runners.

8 miles of out then back along the South Tyne Trail. Cold starting out but no wind. Dog walkers, a group of ramblers and a cheery fellow runner out and about. Home straight on my daft annual target - fingers crossed. Words of warning, autocorrect tries to change ramblers into gamblers!

"Let's do this !" extols my running app joyfully as I limp towards my end of year target. If only said app had been there to urge caution as I consumed an extra mince pie or glass of amazing Bordeaux. Good luck to everybody chasing down some annual target. Achieve it or not, just keep on running.

I uploaded the wrong images to go with my previous post.
This happened because:-
a) I am stupid
b) I am old
c) I have had a couple of drinks
d) All of the above!

Correct images here.

Used the possibility of a Christmas Park Run as an excuse to reduce my run distance today. Quite cold initially and still extremely "mushy" underfoot in areas of decaying leaves. I saw one other pleasant fellow runner. Merry Christmas to all.

Trip to Hexham to fail miserably at Christmas shopping. Did manage to get these bargain records (vin isles to da yout') and sneaked a rather warm 6 miler in 53 mins. Followed the Tyne Green PR route with an extension to Warden then crossed the A69 and back past the cemetery.

Little trip up to East Lothian with an early Sunday morning canter to help maintain sanity. Just under 5 miles in just under 45 minutes. Originally intended to drop down to the coast, which provides some great routes but absolutely could not face the climb back up. 1 fellow runner.
