Nutmegger in Australia. Public health researcher. Mad as hell about, well…*gestures around*.

I have reached levels of middle-aged dad that you cannot fathom
Two explanations: mistaken votes, or the Falklands have a surprisingly small proportion of contrarian assholes in their midst.

This remains the funniest referendum result I’ve ever seen.

Eh, most of us (like me, American with UK and Australian citizenship working in Australia) are under the double taxation threshold of $130,000 USD. And we remain entitled to child tax credits. So the US actually pays *me* to remain a citizen. But honestly I wouldn’t be too upset if they revoked it.

Just one more Danegeld, bro. I swear.

This is what I do when I play Civilization.
The game Civilization is turning me into a bad person. I captured Buenos Aires and immediately renamed it The Falklands.

I’ve said it before and I’ve say it again: Trump’s secret sauce was giving people permission to be their worst bigoted selves. And it’s why I think MAGA must be defeated through ostracisation and shame, not compromising. Because what can we comprise on, closing 10% of their concentration camps?

Totally. And the lack of violence from those opposing Trump’s Brownshirts to date has been remarkable. Especially in light of the gun rights movement’s hair-trigger self-defence rhetoric.

Moby-Dick is definitely on that list. You can refer to someone’s “white whale” and most people will know what you’re talking about.

Dracula, for obvious reasons.
Arthurian legends.

If the vast majority of Americans are where Dana Loesch and Alan Dershowitz are, the vast majority of Americans need to shut up and let adults do the talking.

In their defence, it is a good use of the meme, though.

I mean, History Boys treated this thing as a sort of lark, didn’t it? Almost a foible of male teachers. And that wasn’t even in a university but a grammar school!

Health effects include: increased mortality (particularly due to cardiovascular causes), poorer respiratory health (which seems to have resolved), increased distress, poorer school performance among children, increased risk of gestational diabetes. And maybe even greater susceptibility to COVID!

Another one for the list: we just wrapped up a 10 year study on the 2014 Hazelwood coal mine fire disaster in rural Victoria, Australia. After a particularly hot and dry summer led to bushfires that ignited an open-cut coal mine, nearby towns were covered in smoke and ash for 6 weeks!

Andrew Weissmann? Did I miss something, or is Trump trying to link people he doesn’t like to Epstein without any evidence?
