City council and municipal committees can only meet in closed session for specific reasons described in the Municipal Act (section 239).
Claiming a committee has met "in secret" disingenuously implies something nefarious.

Last night, the city tabled their draft 2026-27 budget.
It was one of the biggest municipal news items of the year.
I sat alone at the media table, as is the case with the vast majority of council/committee meetings.
This, in a city closing in on 200,000 people.

I'm looking forward to digging into the draft 2026-27 budget document next Tuesday.
There'll be much to analyze.
It's anticipated to kick off city council budget talks in December with a tax levy increase of 3.2-4.4%, per the city's long-range financial plan.
