I doubt it. I think Leonard is getting a shot bc Kane is going miss a few games. Berggren wasn’t really cracking the rotation so there’s not much need for a specific replacement.

I continue to believe WAR should be redone as total wins contribution not above a replacement player. Like Kelvin instead of Celsius, the bottom would be 0, not a negative. Would also help reward players who keep playing past their prime and not get careers totals dinged.

Might be slightly tinfoil hat thinking here, but I’m confident the chairs/ committee have for a long time had their own opaque reasoning to make matchups and then come up with the publicly stated reasoning after the fact

If that was a summary of a draft prospect in any sport, it sure wouldn’t be an early round pick.

I do not know how to reconcile the difference in their league ranking for xG% and PDO. I guess it means they’re better at creating/preventing chances than they are at finishing/ saving ?

Do the projections usually have 0 awful teams this early on? Currently none are under a 76 pt projection while there’s been teams finishing in the 50s at least the past handful of years. Nobody has really fallen out of competitiveness yet.

It’s an interesting idea and the distinction between rulebook zone and actual called zone is a relevant one, it may be more relevant in terms of the pitches that just barely scratch the zone that a robo ump would call more precisely. But in terms of the dimensions of the book, here’s the pages:

don’t know how one would prove or disprove this, but the thought I had was that this might not be due to on ice events changing from 3 years ago, but instead due to the change in what’s used to measure it. That if you had a sample event, human scoring might record it differently than the chip tech.
