good point! i guess my problem was the fact that she had written it off very quickly based on what she knew about booktok tropes. in that respect, i feel it discourages people from venturing into new genres, but i also totally see what you're saying and i should stop gatekeeping lol

like, i read the book once as a teen and once in my mid-20s and despite all the changes the movie made, i feel it still conveys the same messages. like the changes made sense to me because the essence of the story stayed the same. anyway, i had a fun time
