Overall, our findings stress the importance of further studying the role of political socialization in adolescence to help us understand how and why growing up in different types of places shapes people's political attitudes.

We analyzed whether these associations are explained by socialization or selection effects, and only found support for the latter.

In urban areas, adolescents with more multiculturalist attitudes are more likely to discuss politics with parents/peers, while it seems opposite in rural areas. (2/3)
