With good luck there's people who can troubleshoot or show some tricks how to do things. We have one bigger workshop with several machines, I've asked help and I've been asked to help, it's very supportive. Other places, there's just one machine in a corner, you get it done but not as fun 😅

Here in Nordics we have a public library that has machines I book & use 😇 so if I would do a t-shirt (cotton jersey) I would use overlock/serger for seams, and then twin-needle on normal machine for finishings.
With super-stretchy material, I would use coverstitch machine for finishings.

For your question: I would immediately buy overlocker/serger, if I'd have any extra. I've used it for t-shirt materials, for super-stretchy leggings, for neat seam finishings on woven materials.
