The double irony here is that the "average" car ownership lifestyle (12k/year, 1hr round trip commute) you end up spending spend the extra 2 hours/day time freedom that we supposedly have working just to pay for the car!

25 F for what it's worth... -4C for the rest of the world

Point is, insulation will never hurt, and it'll save you money/energy while you save up for the heat pump system of your dreams.

Just finished putting R38 in the attic and it helped a ton.

A caveat to this... We swapped to an air2air heat pump, I'm glad we did because it's a godsend during the summer, but anytime it's below 25 our house is *chilly*

We're a special case because our overpowered 1913 radiator system was compensating for only reflective insulation in our attic.

If we could successfully bind Fossil Fuel companies to their end of life costs of just their existing infrastructure they would collapse overnight.

Especially in the sense of the crocodile presenters who have to regularly remind their audiences that the croc that they appear to be friends with will happily chomp their arms off if they let down their guard for one second.

I saw an AI enabled printer at Costco and I almost pre-emptively office spaced it... Printers are already intelligent and malevolent (they understand your deadlines and hate you.) no need for additional artificial intelligence.

I'm personally a big fan of chicanes & boulders - but all of the above works for me.

Mourned because so many will still miss the point and that it's necessary because folks have a hard time engaging with art or stories beneath the surface value.

It is shocking the extent to which they are genuinely trying not only to re-interpret/nullify the constitution but the rule of law all the way back to magna carta...

"For my friends everything, for my enemies the law"

I feel like the focused slices help you see how much of the downtown side got replaced with surface parking and just never got built up again.

Can't wait til we reclaim the northern inner loop too.

And I thought the gambling on the hurricane season & rain totals in places that are flooding was grim...

Seriously... "Car enthusiasts" are mechanics, racers or collectors who make a hobby of their cars, but every single person who rides a bike more than once a month and doesn't want to die is a "bike enthusiast."
December 5, 2025 at 7:08 PM
"Bike enthusiasts" oppose the bill.

Not, you know... commuters who rely on ebikes to get to work every day...

And if they started charging mass mailers more for abusing the system & sending the junk that fills everyone's mailboxes every dang day they could probably reduce that deficit a bit more...
