I don’t understand why people are not clocking that “otherwise typical guy’s love twisted into hate” is actually deeply devastating to the maga narrative,which depends on the idea of “radicalization” being mediated by some insidious external agent or factor

The commitment to the lie of rebranding Kirk as as a reasonable moderate happening at the same time it becomes likely that the motive was a visceral personal reaction to the polarizing rhetoric is a chaotic contradiction that basically guarantees something similar will happen again

I find it highly clarifying. An ideologically predictable enemy is a political asset. But an unremarkable guy provoked by the rhetoric is not a profilable threat. And if the danger is everywhere and nowhere, the only possible response is panicked scapegoating
