If you told me the devs favourite game back in the day wasn't Legend of Dragoon, I wouldn't believe you. COE33 has LoD DNA, I can FEEL it.

The only time the game is truly turn-based is when you're selecting your characters' actions. However, this is my only complaint about the game.

Too much timing! First you need to identify what kind of attack is coming & what is the right response. Then you need to basically guess when the attack might land. For most, you can either parry or dodge, but there are two types of attack each have their own specific response.

Also there's rythm game mechanics infused into the combat. Good thing the LoD additions system can be turned to automatic or COE33's acc score would have been 3.

5/10 accessibility score, a rare low for a turn-based. Here's the deal: it loses so many points because the large swaths of time where you're not allowed to pause. In combat, any time an enemy is moving or is about to move. And some of their combos drag on & on. Some take 2-5 turns in a row.

I think he's going too hard into introducing new mechanics. I don't enjoy the super tight timing of the quizzes. Also what is the deal with no pausing/saving during the game segments? 5/10 accessibility score bc you can just leave your setup when you need, and hope the console/computer stays powered
