Oh it’s insane. It is also going to piss people off when they realised that “not raising income tax” is not the same as no stealth taxes. Eg thresholds. People will check their payslip and find out they are getting less

Indeed. Speaking as an academic , that’s higher than 99% of all professorial salaries. You pretty much need to be a Dean (maybe not even that) or win a Nobel prize to get there. This is a non starter in terms of getting people in. Funnily these guys probably offshore their asssts !

I honestly don’t get why they don’t flip the script : stop talking about immigrants and fill the grid with announcements like these instead. Maybe they are so election brained that they just failed to see that people want good news, not news about how we are the baddies now.

No amount of “deterrent” will stop a refugee or immigrant when they can point to these people and said “this is a country that gives me a chance”.

These are terrestrial TV. The reception was awful and grainy. But they participated joyously. They were split between Brazil and Argentina supporters at that time.
But now they must be delighted they will have their own team to cheer on!
